Gallery: Intact Breast

Details: Alignment view (from anterior) of OptiBol for intact breast

Summary

This is the dataset used in a 2017 Plan Study run by the University of Florida in conjunction with PTCOG. It is publicly available via the ProKnow Quality Systems website.

These automated, variable-thickness boluses were designed for the union of multiple (5) PTVs. The gallery images (below) illustrate how the automated design of buildup adds a portion to cover the supraclavicular (SCV) lymph nodes, which were one of the five targets.

  1. 3D anterior view of a full-buildup bolus (goal buildup of 15 mm to underlying targets) with the alignment guide designed at a user-defined sagittal plane.
  2. 3D view from patient’s left of the same bolus as gallery item #1, with the alignment guide designed at a user-defined coronal plane.
  3. OptiBol 15 mm (buildup to underlying target) with no alignment guides. See the extra portion added automatically to help achieve coverage of the PTV SCV.
  4. OptiBol 15 mm (buildup to underlying target) shown in axial view.
  5. OptiBol 10 mm (buildup to underlying target) with no alignment guides. Because the target was cropped 5 mm inside the skin, the 10 mm goal buildup is achieved with a bolus that is 5-6 mm in the thickest portions.
  6. OptiBol 10 mm (buildup to underlying target) shown in axial view.
